Workforce of the future 2030

Workforce of the future 2030

| 佐々木亮輔, 藤田通紀
This report, based on research by PwC and the University of Oxford, explores the future of work reform up to 2030. Technology (automation, AI) is fundamentally changing the nature of labor, forcing a re-evaluation of the value of "work" and "life." It identifies five key megatrends (technological breakthroughs, demographic shifts, rapid urbanization, shifts in global economic power, and climate change/resource scarcity) that will reshape the workforce. AI will evolve through three stages: Assisted, Augmented, and Autonomous Intelligence. The report emphasizes that "human dynamics"—the push and pull between collectivism vs. individualism and fragmentation vs. integration—will be decisive in shaping four distinct future scenarios (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow). It urges leaders to abandon linear thinking in favor of preparing multiple, flexible scenarios. Key actions include focusing on people over tasks, fostering continuous learning (reskilling), embracing technology debates, and taking immediate bold steps. The future is not predetermined; it requires active and decisive choices today. This report, based on research by PwC and the University of Oxford, explores the future of work reform up to 2030.
